For the last few months, I have been taking Emma to countless appointments for her testing. She has been getting tested about twice a week. They test her on her social skills, her language and speech development, her fine and gross motor skills and many other areas. It has been EXHAUSTING.
The reason they have been so extensively testing her is to see if she can qualify for a developmental preschool. It is located at the college, which is only a few blocks away from our apartment. Emma will have qualified teachers working with her that understand her triggers and her delays. She would have other kids her age to play with and all of them are experiencing 2 or more developmental delays. So hopefully Emma will feel like part of the group instead of an outsider.
That is the requirement for the program. A child must be experiencing 2 or more sufficient developmental delays for their age group. Emma has 3. So we pretty much are possitive that she will get into the preschool. We finished yesterday with the last of the testing. On December 1st, we will have a meeting with the school board and the program managers to look over Emma's test scores and see if she does qualify for the program. Her 3rd birthday is the next day. After that she could start preschool as soon as the next few weeks.
She will be gone on tuesdays, wednesdays and fridays from 9am-11am. :( I will miss her so much. But she will be having fun, and I will get some much needed time to myself. That would be nice. :)
I will definately be blogging the outcome of all this. Hopefully she will get into the developmental preschool. It would be really good for her.
